An Overview of Dry, Preaction and Deluge Systems (FP21029)

"This presentation provides an overview of the different types of dry systems including traditional dry, preaction and deluge systems. We will review what type of systems tend to be chosen for specific scenarios as well as provide an understanding of the NFPA requirements that exist for dry type sprinkler systems. The various initiating sequences will be reviewed for each type of system, including single interlock and double interlock preaction systems with both pneumatic and electric actuation. An overview of the DPV-1 and DV-5A valves will be provided along with various accessory devices commonly used in these systems. Learning Objectives:
    1. Identify the difference between a wet pipe, dry pipe, deluge and single or double interlock preaction sprinkler system.
    1. Select the appropriate type of system for the given application.
    1. Identify the sequence of events for a wet, dry, or preaction sprinkler system to operate.
    1. Understand the equipment and installation requirements, as they relate to operation and maintenance of each system type.
